
His brother, Vitus Gevaert, moved to Ghent too and around 1844 began a music business with concert hall. One of his hits as a music publisher was De Vlaemsche leeuw, published in 1848. This example shows some changes by the poet Karel Miry himself.
Vitus Gevaert also published early compositions of his brother, such as the attractively illustrated Drie Choorzangen from 1849.
